A collection of plans for the classic wooden boats - the models vary in size but I prefer to work on models that are about 1m in length or larger so the majority of plans here are for the larger models. Most of the model plan sets are free, others are for sale. The cost is kept low so that everyone can have a chance to build the models - some lesser quality plans are for sale on the web for 10 times the price. Again the low price does not affect the quality of the plans.

The plan set for the Riva Aquarama has all the details and templates to make your own Classic Riva Boat
Plans are in PDF format which are full size - no scaling. The original hand drafted Italian plans are also included.
The frame templates are in A0 format and each individual frame is repeated on A4 sheets that can be printed on
a home printer. A full size AutoCad drawing file of the real Aquarama is included in the plan set for reference.

The plans for the full sized craft are available free on the web but the plans are what you would expect for a free set of plans and not suitable for making a scale model.
This set of plans follows the original dimension of the craft designed by Bruce Crandell and produces a 1 to 4.6 scale model - an unusual scale but the aim was to produce a model that is 1.0m in length.
The 23 Page plan set consists of 6 No. A0 Sheets, 17 No. A3 Sheets, 5 DXF Files and a 60 page build photo document - all in Adobe PDF format.

Plans are CNC friendly – the CAD plans for the Frame Sets are nested for cutting on 700 x 400 CNC machines or larger
Simply take you files to a modern woodworking shop and they will cut the frames and parts for you. - no waiting for shipping, delivery charges or customs payments.
The 700 x 400 size of the frame parts enables most home 2D or 3D CNC woodworking machines to be used with this plan set.
The full size PDF plans provides for quick reference and printing and provides cutting templates for those who do not have access to CNC machines.
